Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about UTradeCapital Futures evaluations, rules, and funding process.

General & Getting Started

How do prop firms make money, and how is UTradeCapital different?

+

Most firms focus heavily on challenge repurchases and evaluation churn. UTradeCapital aims to create a better trader experience by combining clear rules, responsive support, and tools designed to help traders avoid preventable mistakes. We believe long-term trader retention is built through transparency, education, and a fair program structure.

What does UTradeCapital's Futures program offer?

+

UTradeCapital offers a Futures Evaluation connected to the CME exchange. Available account sizes:

  • $25,000 — $238 (1 standard / 10 micro contracts)
  • $50,000 — $472 (3 standard / 30 micro contracts)
  • $100,000 — $900 (6 standard / 60 micro contracts)
  • $150,000 — $1,435 (9 standard / 90 micro contracts)

All fees are one-time payments. The evaluation fee is added to your funded account balance upon successful completion.

How many evaluations and funded accounts can I have at one time?

+

You can take only one futures evaluation of a specific account size at a time.

Maximum Funded Limits: A maximum of $1 million in active funded plans per person is permitted. If you pass multiple evaluations and have 2 active funded accounts of the same size, you can either: (1) keep one active and wait for the other to be breached, or (2) if no trading has taken place in either, combine them into a single account of double the size.

Compounding Limits: There are no limits on compounding. You can grow your funded account to any balance you desire.

What happens after I purchase an evaluation?

+

After purchase, you'll receive:

  • Login credentials for the DXtrade Futures platform
  • Access to your trader dashboard to monitor progress (updated roughly every 60 seconds)
  • Welcome email with all setup instructions and support contacts

You can begin trading once your account is activated (typically within 24 hours). Charges will appear as dashboardanalytix.com on your statement.

What is the minimum age requirement?

+

You must be at least 18 years of age, or the applicable minimum legal age in your country, to purchase an assessment.

Is UTradeCapital a registered company?

+

Yes. UTradeCapital Inc. is a company registered federally with the Government of Canada.

Evaluation Rules & Requirements

What are the Futures evaluation rules?

+

Futures evaluations have the following rules:

  • Equity Growth Target: 9%
  • Max Daily Loss: 5% (calculated at End-of-Day based on prior day's closing balance)
  • Max Drawdown: 5% trailing (calculated at End-of-Day, based on highest EOD balance)
  • Consistency Rule: 30% — no single trading day may account for more than 30% of total profits
  • Min Trading Days: 3 profitable days (each with minimum 0.5% gain)
  • Time Limit: Unlimited
  • Inactivity Limit: 21 days (Eval), 14 days (Funded)
  • No compounding limits

Positions can be held overnight and over the weekend, subject to exchange margin requirements.

How is the daily loss limit calculated?

+

The Daily Loss Limit is the maximum amount an account may lose in a single trading day. This limit resets each day at 5:00 PM EST.

For Futures accounts, the 5% Daily Loss Limit is calculated at End-of-Day based on the prior day's closing balance.

Example for a $50,000 account with a 5% Daily Loss Limit:

  • At the 5:00 PM EST reset, the account balance is $50,000
  • 5% of $50,000 is $2,500, meaning the account will violate the Daily Loss Limit if the end-of-day equity falls to $47,500 or below
  • This is calculated based on the prior day's closing balance

How does the trailing drawdown work?

+

Futures accounts have a 5% trailing drawdown calculated at End-of-Day based on your highest EOD balance.

Example for a $50,000 account:

  • Starting balance: $50,000
  • 5% trailing drawdown = $2,500
  • Initial drawdown limit: $47,500
  • If your EOD balance reaches $55,000, the drawdown limit trails up to $52,500
  • The trailing drawdown only moves up, never down

This means the drawdown tracks your highest end-of-day balance and stays 5% below it. It will never decrease — once it moves up, it stays there. Plan your trading accordingly to maintain enough buffer above your drawdown limit.

What is the 30% Consistency Rule?

+

The Consistency Rule requires that no single trading day may account for more than 30% of your total profits. This rule ensures that your profitability is based on consistent performance rather than one large winning day.

Example: If your total profits are $10,000, no single day's profit can exceed $3,000 (30% of $10,000). If one day's profit exceeds 30%, you will need to continue trading to bring that day's percentage down relative to your total.

What are the minimum trading days requirements?

+

You must have a minimum of 3 profitable trading days, each with at least a 0.5% gain.

The days don't need to be consecutive — you can take breaks between trading days. You have 60 days to complete the evaluation.

What is the difference between a Hard Breach and Soft Breach?

+

Soft Breach: A soft breach means that we will close all trades that have violated the rule. However, you can continue trading in your Evaluation or Funded Account. Examples of soft breaches include:

  • Opening trades within the 3-minute news blackout window (before or after high-impact news events)
  • Using a prohibited trading technique (e.g., tick scalping, latency arbitrage, martingale, grid trading)
  • Exceeding position limits set by the broker or risk management system

Repeated soft breaches may result in account review and potential escalation to a hard breach at the Company's discretion.

Hard Breach: A hard breach means that you violated either the Daily Loss Limit or Max Drawdown rule. Both rules constitute a hard breach. In the event you have a hard breach, you will fail the Evaluation or have your Funded Account taken away.

If you have gains in your funded account at the time of a hard breach, you will still receive your portion of those gains. For example, if you have a $50,000 Futures account that grows to $55,000 and you then have a hard breach, we would close the account — but of the $5,000 in gains, you would be paid your 90% portion ($4,500).

Can I hold trades overnight or over weekends?

+

Yes, positions can be held overnight and over the weekend, subject to exchange margin requirements.

Be aware that:

  • Weekend gaps can impact your positions
  • Your daily loss limit and maximum drawdown still apply
  • You should account for potential weekend volatility in your risk management

Can I trade during news events?

+

Opening a position within 3 minutes before or after a News Event is prohibited.

You cannot open new positions during:

  • 3 minutes before high-impact news releases
  • 3 minutes after high-impact news releases

Any traders identified as having opened a position during a News Event are subject to having that position closed and the associated P&L removed from their account, having the leverage on their account reduced, or having their account breached altogether.

The Company has sole and absolute discretion in determining what constitutes a News Event. This rule is intended to protect the integrity of our program and is not meant to penalize traders who inadvertently trade through a news event.

What happens if I violate a rule?

+

It depends on the type of violation:

Soft Breach: We will close all trades that violated the rule, but you can continue trading in your Evaluation or Funded Account.

Hard Breach (Daily Loss Limit or Max Drawdown): Your evaluation or funded account ends immediately. You will need to purchase a new evaluation to try again.

Is there a breach for inactivity?

+

Your account will be breached if you do not have any trading activity for 21 consecutive days during the Evaluation, or 14 consecutive days for Funded accounts.

Can I use an automated strategy (Expert Advisor)?

+

Yes. Subject to our policy on Prohibited Trading, you can trade using an automated strategy. However, the following are still prohibited even with automated strategies:

  • Exploiting errors or latency in pricing and/or platforms
  • Off-the-shelf strategies marketed to pass challenge accounts
  • Utilizing one strategy to pass an evaluation and then switching to a different strategy in a funded account
  • Arbitrage between accounts

The 5-Phase Journey

What is the 5-Phase Futures Journey?

+

The Futures program follows a structured 5-phase journey:

  • Phase 1 — Evaluation: Pass the 9% equity growth target
  • Phase 2 — Milestone 2: First funded phase
  • Phase 3 — Milestone 3: Build your track record
  • Phase 4 — Milestone 4: Final milestone
  • Phase 5 — Live CME Account: Graduate to live CME trading

At each milestone, you receive a payout. Example payouts for a $50K account: Phase 1 = $1,000, Phase 2 = $1,500, Phase 3 = $1,500, Phase 4 = $3,000. Total before live: $7,000.

What are the equity growth targets?

+

Evaluation Phase: 9% equity growth target.

Funded Phases (Milestones 2–5): No equity growth target — focus on consistent, disciplined trading as you progress through the phases.

Once you reach the equity growth target in the evaluation phase and meet the minimum trading days requirement, you'll advance to the next phase. There's no maximum profit — you can exceed the target without any penalty.

Instruments & Platform

What instruments can I trade?

+

You can trade a wide range of CME instruments:

  • Equity Index: ES, NQ, YM, RTY, MES, MNQ, MYM, M2K
  • Energy: CL, NG, MCL, MNG
  • Metals: GC, SI, HG, MGC, SIL
  • Agricultural: ZC, ZS, ZW, and others
  • Interest Rate: ZB, ZN, ZF

Standard contracts are full-size CME contracts (e.g., ES = $50 x S&P 500, NQ = $20 x Nasdaq-100). Micro contracts are 1/10th the standard size.

What platform can I trade on?

+

Our Futures program currently supports DXtrade Futures Rithmic, and Volumetrica. You will receive your platform credentials upon purchasing your evaluation.

We have risk management software that is synced with the accounts we create, which allows us to analyze your performance in real time. As such, you must use an account that we provide to you — you cannot use your own existing accounts.

Am I subject to any position limits?

+

Yes. Contract limits vary by account size:

  • $25,000 account: 1 standard contract / 10 micro contracts
  • $50,000 account: 3 standard contracts / 30 micro contracts
  • $100,000 account: 6 standard contracts / 60 micro contracts
  • $150,000 account: 9 standard contracts / 90 micro contracts

We reserve the right to increase the margin requirement, limit the number of open positions you may enter or maintain at any time, and to revise in response to market conditions the drawdown levels at which trading will be halted. We or the Broker reserve the right to refuse to accept any order.

Do you manipulate the pricing or executions on my trades?

+

No. We do not have any control over pricing from the exchange or on the executions on your trades. Funded accounts receive the same pricing and commissions as charged by the CME exchange to other market participants.

Do your accounts charge commissions?

+

Funded accounts receive the same pricing and commissions as charged by the CME exchange to other market participants.

Funded Accounts

Who is the counterparty to my trades?

+

For purposes of managing risk and minimizing transaction costs, we may offset or negate market risk and act as the direct counterparty to certain trades initiated in the Account. Such trades are executed at prices provided by arm's length third parties. This framework ensures you receive real market execution on your trades, while allowing us to manage risk dynamically. Regardless of whether we act as counterparty, the gain or loss on your funded account is not calculated differently.

Once I pass the evaluation, am I provided with a demo or live account?

+

Once you pass the Evaluation, we provide you with a funded account, backed by our capital. You progress through the 5-Phase journey, ultimately graduating to a live CME account in Phase 5. The capital in your funded Account is notional and may not match the amount of capital on deposit with the exchange. Use of notional funding does not impact your trading conditions in any way.

Payments & Funding

What is the gains split and how do payouts work?

+

In Phase 5 (live CME account), funded accounts use a 90/10 gains split — you receive 90%, we keep 10%. Phases 1–4 have fixed milestone payouts with no gains split — you receive a set payout upon hitting each target.

Phase 5 payouts are available every 14 days. Phases 1–4 milestone payments are paid upon hitting the target. When a withdrawal is approved, we will also withdraw our share of the gains.

Important: The trailing drawdown does not reset when you request a withdrawal. If you withdraw all of your profits, you risk violating the Maximum Drawdown rule and losing the account.

Example: You have a $50,000 account that grows to $60,000. You request a withdrawal of $9,000 (your 90% of $10,000 in gains). We retain $1,000 (10%). This takes your balance to $50,000. Plan your withdrawals carefully to maintain enough buffer above your trailing drawdown limit.

When can I request withdrawals?

+

Payouts are available every 14 days.

To withdraw, click the Withdraw Profits button in your trader dashboard and enter the amount. All gains are distributed via the available outbound payment solutions offered from time to time. We reserve the right to change the withdrawal methods and options at any time.

Remember: The drawdown does NOT reset when you withdraw. Plan your withdrawals carefully to maintain enough buffer above your Maximum Drawdown limit.

Is my evaluation fee refundable?

+

Upon successful completion of the evaluation, your evaluation fee is added to your funded account balance.

Failed evaluations: Evaluation fees are non-refundable once the evaluation begins. No refunds for failed evaluations, even if unused.

What is Lock Upon Payout (LUP)?

+

Lock Upon Payout (LUP) means that when you submit your first payout request, your maximum drawdown becomes permanently locked at the original starting balance of the account.

For Futures accounts, LUP is enabled by default. This means that upon your first payout request, your trailing drawdown limit locks at the starting balance — it will no longer trail your highest EOD balance.

Example: You have a $50,000 account that grows to $60,000. When you submit your first payout request, the maximum drawdown becomes permanently locked at $50,000. From that point forward, your account balance may not fall below $50,000.

You can purchase the LUP Disable Fee (40% of the evaluation purchase price) at checkout to disable this lock. With LUP disabled, your trailing drawdown continues to function normally — trailing 5% below your highest EOD balance — even after payouts.

Key details:

  • The fee is 40% of the evaluation purchase price
  • It is a one-time payment — you pay it once and it applies for the life of the funded account
  • It can be purchased at checkout when you buy your evaluation
  • This fee is non-refundable

What countries are accepted?

+

+
